The ArteBeat is passionate about the power of the arts, its accessibility
and the philosophy of
sustainably-thoughtful, materials-led, functional, beautiful, and ultimately intelligent design.
Best design practise is considered to be: better than that which it replaces; its lifecycle is intentionally conceptualised, and innovatively planned for; and embodies better living through mindfully facilitating elegant sustainable environmentalism.
Each item from the Atelier studio has its own unique material story, salvaged and designed through to an enhanced re-realisation, made with love into a new intelligent iteration.

MATERIALITY
Output from the studio is sustainably-thoughtful and develops organically from materials available in the studio at any one time.
Re-Cycled materials from a range of sources, are used first and foremost. From reclaimed high-quality Italian leather and archival vintage fashion magazine paper recovered from design studio scrapheaps of commercial luxury fashion houses; to rescued Swedish wooden furniture collected from the streets of London, online auction sales, flea markets and charity shops; as well as base materials recovered through travels and explorations locally and further afield.
The ArteBeat Atelier has a zero-waste philosophy - we do not throw away anything whenever possible - a vintage leather pouch production line made from discarded hides of exquisite vintage Italian fine leather, would have offcuts of fine high-end leather that are then turned into eye-catching and stylish earrings; or discarded archival magazines receive a new lease of life re-purposed as decoupaged embellishment tiles and tesserae for an embellished-twist to a Scandi hat stand or living room sideboard.
Any items sold through the online ArteBeat shop are shipped and posted with re-used packaging wherever possible.
FUNCTIONALITY
The ArteBeat is passionate about retaining core functionality whist being materials-led - items are made robustly, and to be handled and used.
For example, the Collection includes furniture items ideal for urban living where space is at a premium and needs to work hard.
Think a good sectioned rucksack, made from recycled leather cuttings. It’s then dissected and sewn back togther, into a slathering of pure textured suede-to-the-touch colour collage. It’s considerated, with built-in details that aid transition from day to evening seemlesly ;), including with a good number of sections, pockets and other practical features.
Or an elegant looking nest of two tables. Slightly different sizes, morphing from 1-2 and easily transportable, space-spacing yet durable, practical and lightweight.

SUSTAINABILITY
The ArteBeat and any output or production is as far as possible, always with a mindful eye to the environment, and sustainable design. It is its reason for being.
The very ethics underpinning the ArteBeat Atelier is to contribute positively to a circular, more environmentally friendly and better socioeconomic system that is providing enough for all.
One way we do this is by moving materials that would otherwise be going to landfill, by creating unique, one-of-a-kind products.
We do this by exploring arts and crafts from different eras, origins, and techniques, to create new products drawn and into different territories.
We move materials that otherwise would be going to landfill, and create unique, one-of-a-kind objects of art by exploring different territories with an artisan and traditional craft focus.
It follows that the ArteBeat and any output or production, is as far as possible, always with a mindful eye to the environment, and sustainable design, if not its very essence of being and existence.

AESTHETICS
Designed with a beautified aesthetic, so that items are the best they can be in all aspects whilst also being functional, including on the eye.
Think Roman mosaics and frescos given a modern twist in the 21st century. There is often a tactile, texture-infused element, in alignment with nature and its vibrancy and variety.
The ArteBeat aims to create conversation pieces, that will bring you and others closer to the maker.
